Today we visited Akkerman in Brownsdale with Justin Akkerman. Akkerman was founded in 1973 by D.H.Akkerman and is now in it’s third generation in the family. Justin spent some time in the cities prior to returning home to the family business. They currently employ 85 full time employees. The equipment they build and sell is engineered and manufactured at the corporate headquarters in Brownsdale, MN. Their equipment is used for guided boring, microtunneling pipe jacking, sliplining, and tunneling solutions. They produce a long lasting product, offer service and support, have a knowledgeable staff, have roots that are based in contracting allowing them to relate to customers, and are driven to provide customer success. It is amazing to see the operation they have in Brownsdale! A quote that stood out from their intro video was, “If you don’t innovate you will start to fade.” The work they are doing and the innovation is amazing!
