This morning we met with John Garry, President and CEO of the Development Corporation of Austin and Nick Novotny Director of Community Engagement and Enhancement Impact Austin. The Development Corporation of Austin works with manufactures who want to come to Austin, retention and expansion in Austin, and entrepreneurs who are developing new businesses in Austin. John explained that economic development helps to bring more opportunities for workers to a community and the hope is that they will then live in the community as well which will keep businesses growing and the community growing. Nick shared about the comprehensive plan for the next 20 years in Austin and how community can get involved. Students were able to give their feedback during an interactive survey about the future of Austin. It was a great morning and we appreciate the commitment the DCA continues to have with CEO!
